Meet your instructor

Meet Shayne Stone.

Second-generation miner. 30+ years on the ground. Still working in the industry today.

Shayne Stone on a mine site

With over 35 years under his belt in the mining industry, Shayne brings an invaluable level of knowledge and firsthand experience to his interactive training classes. He utilizes his ongoing career in the industry to keep material fresh and in line with current mining trends and safety practices.

Growing up under a dad who did his fair share of tramp mining, Shayne has amassed nearly 40 moves throughout the USA and part of Canada. Through those journeys he worked on over 30 projects in the Metal/Nonmetal, Coal, and Civil divisions of mining.

That's the difference. You're not getting a history lesson. You're getting current, real-world MSHA training from someone who lives it.

Why safety matters

Family is why we come home.

Every shift starts and ends with the people waiting at home. Shayne's family is the reason he's spent a career championing the safety practices he teaches in every class.

In the classroom

What makes Shayne's classes different.

  • Story-driven instruction — real incidents, real outcomes, real lessons
  • Videos and visuals from actual mine sites, not stock footage
  • Active discussion — no one zones out in the back row
  • Application to the specific work each student does
  • Current regulations and current industry practice — updated continuously from active work experience
  • Respect for the student's time — class is engaging, not punishment

"I've always viewed MSHA refresher training as a necessary evil. Shayne made the class fun by sharing real stories and videos that were entertaining AND pertinent. After his class I left feeling empowered and wanting to share the safety information I'd received."
