Who it's for

Anyone newly hired at a surface sand, gravel, stone, clay, limestone, colloidal phosphate, or shell-dredging operation.

MSHA Part 48 — New Miner Training (Underground)

Duration

40 hours (underground) / 24 hours (surface coal)

Who it's for

New miners at underground mines, surface coal mines, and certain surface metal/nonmetal mines.

Before beginning work as a new underground miner

Format

In-person — Part 48 requires an MSHA-approved instructor (online does not satisfy)
